Hysteroscopy in most of the cases is essential before IVF procedure. During hysteroscopy we check the uterine cavity where the embryo implementation takes place.

What is hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is a way for the endoscopic surgeon to look at the lining of the uterus. Through this procedure it is used a hysteroscope, a tiny tube (it has diameter of 3 to 10 mm) which carries a light and a camera. The hysteroscope is inserted into the womb through the vagina and the cervix, which means that there is no need for surgical wounds.

You cannot rely on a trans-vaginal ultrasound or a HSG due to the fact that we cannot see what hysteroscopy can. During hysteroscopy can diagnose and treat problems of the uterus at the same time.
